Highly-motivated individuals with a strong background in numerical modeling (especially discrete element method or material point method), machine learning and probabilistic methods, and non-invasive sensing methods in geotechnical engineering, adequate English proficiency, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team are encouraged to apply.
Required qualifications
Applicants must have a B.S. degree and a master degree in civil, geotechnical, geological engineering or engineering mechanics. Ideal candidates should have a strong background in one or more of the following areas: geotechnical modeling and simulation (DEM or MPM), machine learning and probabilistic methods, and non-invasive sensing methods.
Compensation package and contact information
The graduate assistantship will be provided to cover tuition and living expenses. Interested individuals are encouraged to send their current CV to Dr. Lei Wang at wang4li@ucmail.uc.edu. Please put “Prospective PhD student in geotechnical engineering” in the subject line.
